ABOUT LIFE ITSELF

We’re Building the Social Infrastructure for Play.

Life Itself is the institution building social infrastructure for a new cultural sector: Play.

Life Itself is a social enterprise. Our model combines a for-profit business with a social-change agenda: we operate commercially while pursuing improvements in how people connect and live.

We address a market opportunity and a social problem. Our mission is to normalize Play and build the social infrastructure that makes it an ordinary, accessible, integrated part of daily life.

We have shareholders and stakeholders: the people who participate in, contribute to, and are affected by what we build.

We began producing parties in 2024. Our ambition extends far beyond nightlife.

The Problem

For generations, people relied on relatively unified social environments.

A neighborhood bar, café, tavern, or social club could be somewhere to meet friends, encounter strangers, flirt, celebrate, have a conversation, or simply spend time around other people.

Today, much of that infrastructure is weakening.

People are increasingly isolated. Conventional nightlife is changing. Social experiences are becoming more specialized, fragmented, and harder to discover.

Yet the desire for connection hasn’t disappeared.

The Opportunity

New formats are emerging everywhere.

Run clubs. Game nights. Sober nightlife. Amateur dating shows. Body painting. Costume events. Social fitness. Experiential gatherings. Alternative relationship cultures.

People are already inventing new forms of social life.

The problem is that these experiments remain scattered.

Life Itself’s ambition is to consolidate them into a coherent cultural sector: Play.

Where We Come From

Life Itself emerged partly from underground play-party culture, including sex parties, queer nightlife, BDSM, kink, ethical non-monogamy (ENM), polyamory, and other forms of consensual exploration.

These cultures helped inform our understanding of Play as self-authored connection.

They also revealed some of the limitations of fragmented, underground social infrastructure.

Different events can operate according to radically different expectations around consent, monitoring, communication, accountability, and guest support.

Our response was not to abandon intimacy.

It was to build a broader format around it.

Playjacent™ brings the possibilities of Play into contemporary cultural and nightlife environments, supported by visible regulation, consent procedures, and an expanding variety of activities.

The activity wasn’t the problem.

The infrastructure was.

Beyond Nightlife

Life Itself isn’t fundamentally a nightlife company.

Our events are the first piece of infrastructure.

We intend to integrate Play into more settings, operate more frequently, develop additional formats, and help make the emerging sector increasingly accessible.

Play can happen at night, during the day, inside existing nightlife and cultural venues, and eventually within environments purpose-built for it.

Sometimes that means producing an extraordinary event from the ground up.

Other times it means integrating Play into a venue or gathering that already exists.

Our ambition is not to make people visit one particular building.

It’s to make Play a normal part of social life.

The Larger Institution

Life Itself’s ambition extends beyond its own events and venues.

As Play becomes an increasingly recognizable cultural sector, we intend to develop the media, services, distribution, operating infrastructure, and institutions that help support it.

We call our interconnected brands and initiatives lattices. Each develops a different part of Life Itself’s mission.

These span event formats and initiatives in development. Confirmed event listings describe what is currently available; the wider visions are not promises that every service is already operating. More information will follow as each develops.
